Ajay Devgn recently took to his Twitter to announce the much-ambitious project of his based on the historical figure Chanakya. He wrote, “Looking forward to playing #Chanakya, a film about one of the greatest thinkers in Indian History, directed by @neerajpofficial.”
Soon after the announcement of this project, curiosity around the period drama resulted in fans asking about the movie. Now as per latest reports, it is being said that the Neeraj Pandey-directed film will be a modern-day adaptation of the teachings of the scholar, who served as the royal advisor to the founder of the Maurya Empire, Chandragupta Maurya.
A source revealed to a daily that since a period drama based on Chanakya’s life was already made in the 90s for the small-screen, Neeraj Pandey is trying to attempt this project with a different approach. The source further stated that the movie will be a socio-political drama set in the current times, with the protagonist shown as an able administrator and strategist along the lines of Chanakya. Neeraj, whose films have an undercurrent of political themes, has woven a narrative inspired by Chanakya's teachings and philosophies.
The source added that Ajay Devgn will begin shooting for the film before year-end.
